Upward Basketball League: (PreK – 6th grade)

Game format and rules are designed to teach the game at an age-specific level that grows with each young athlete.

Teams are coed and split into developmentally appropriate age groupings. Teams are made as equal as possible based on ages, accommodations, and our league evaluations. We are very intentional about this process, we want every child to be appropriately challenged, feel as if they are in a safe place to learn and grow, and be given the opportunity to be as successful as possible.

Teams are coached by volunteer parents, supported and guided by Recreation Ministry staff.

  • 1st - 6th grade teams will practice either Tuesday or Thursday evenings during the week and have a 1-hour game on Saturday.
  • PreK/Kinder teams will practice for 30-40min and play a scrimmage on Saturdays.
  • Players will receive a reversible basketball jersey, and a water bottle as part of this league.
  • Players must provide their own pair of solid black shorts for games.
  • At the end of the season, each player will receive an Upward gift.

    • July 1: Registration Opens
    • August 29: Registration Closes
    • Week of Sept. 13: Elementary Basketball and Cheer teams begin practice
    • September 24: Games begin
    • November 12: Last Game (Church at Woodforest)

    • October 8
    • November 5
